Mexico's presidential candidate selection process concluded during the first week of September 2023 and the results were historic. For the first time in Mexico's history, the race for the presidency is between two female candidates, Claudia Sheinbaum from Movimiento Regeneración Nacional (Morena) (National Regeneration Movement), which is the current ruling party of Mexico and Xóchitl.. A female president would be a presidenta. And both of the two major candidates in this race are women. And that means that barring some miraculous, unexpected rise of a third-party candidate.
